Cavs Party Bar

LeBron does it again with defense.  MVP.  MVP.  MVP.  MVP.  Cavs do it again without Mo and Delonte.  This is the year.  Cavs championship 2010.  End of the heartbreak.  Did I mention I am drunk before mid-afternoon?

Like several NCAA Hoops games today, so before I pass out I want to make some picks.

Seems like the server isn't working so here we go.  My picks in BOLD.

Michigan State Spartans -4 at Michigan Wolverines (Ann Arbor is a whore)

Maryland Terrapins -7 vs Miami Hurricanes

Kansas State Wildcats +2.5 at Baylor Bears

Clemson Tigers -3 at Boston College Eagles

Kentucky Wildcats -6 at South Carolina Gamecocks

West Virginia Mountaineers -16.5 at Depaul Blue Demons

I am already drunk so the rest of you Clevelanders, Let's Get Drunk!

Cavs in Miami

Cavs have another tough game in Miami tonight, without the services of Mo WIlliams and Delonte West.  LeBron may need to score 40...again.  Should be a tough one, but I am sure the after party in South Beach will make the trip worth it.  Rock on Shaughnessy.

Can't get over the juice hump.  1-1 again yesterday.  The good news is I won't finish .500 today because I only like one game.  Stop by the Clevelander Bar and Grill for beer and burgers and cheer on the Cavs and the 'Cuse.  Let's Get Drunk!

Favorites are in bold

Syracuse Orange vs Georgetown Hoyas in Syracuse, Carrier Dome
Spread: 5.5
Pick: Syracuse Orange
Love the Cuse at home tonight. They have been cover machines this year and should continue that trend tonight. Orange wins 78-68.

LeBron James MVP.

Cavs win again.  Daniel Gibson gets the accolades for hitting the winning jumper, but LeBron saves the game at the end.  Not only does he deliver another near triple-double, scores 37 points for the shorthanded Cavaliers without Mo and Delonte, but manages to make the defensive play necessary to preserve the victory.  Just when I think I have seen the best from LeBron, he goes out and reminds me of his boundless talent.  Good win for the Cavs.

Well, around a .500 day yesterday.  With the NFL playoffs, not a very big day in NCAA hoops.  On to the drunken picks of the day!

Favorites are in bold

Indianapolis Colts vs New York Jets in Indianapolis, Lucas Oil Stadium
Spread: 8
Pick: New York Jets
I think the Colts are going to win 20-3. That is why I am picking the Jets because I have been wrong about them the entire playoffs. Take the points, Colts win 23-20.
New Orleans Saints vs Minnesota Vikings in New Orleans, Louisiana Superdome
Spread: 3.5
Pick: New Orleans Saints
I love the Saints and that homefield advantage. In honor of the Saints and the time spent in New Orleans when McGinty tried to blow out his heart by having 50 drinks containing Red Bull in a weekend (and the Browns won a big game), I am picking the Saints. NO rolls 38-17.
And my degenerate picks of the week...
Cleveland State Vikings -4 vs Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers (I am officially on the CSU Bandwagon)
Northern Iowa Panthers -5.5 at Indiana State Sycamores (NIU rights the ship in Terre Haute)

College Basketball Saturday

I know the Cavaliers play a big game today versus a young and strong Oklahoma City team today, but I am fired up about some college basketball today.  I cannot wait.  Add that to a Cavs game and it is a recipe for a blackout.  So come on down to the Clevelander for the Cavs game, but hang around as there will be plenty of college basketball today.  1-1-1 yesterday.  Not easy to do.  Let's Get Drunk.

Favorites are in bold

Villanova Wildcats vs St. Johns Red Storm in New York, Madison Square Garden
Spread: 5.5
Pick: Villanova Wildcats
Nova on fire and should cover this on the road. Wildcats win 85-76.
Mississippi Rebels vs LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, Pete Maravich Assembly Center
Spread: 6
Pick: Mississippi Rebels
Another road favorite, uh-oh. LSU has been simply terrible this year and Ole Miss is tough. UM wins 74-65.
UCLA Bruins vs Washington State Cougars in Los Angeles, Pauley Pavilion - UCLA
Spread: 1.5
Pick: Washington State Cougars
Second day of the Pac-10 road swings are tough, but Cougars just better than UCLA. WSU wins 60-57.
West Virginia Mountaineers vs Ohio State Buckeyes in Morgantown, West Virginia University Coliseum
Spread: 6
Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes
Let's go Bucks. Evan Turner is back and the Buckeyes are playing well. This is a hostile environment but the OSU defense should pull it out. Take the points, but the Buckeyes win 70-69.
as Razorbacks in Lexington, Rupp Arena
Florida Gators vs South Carolina Gamecocks in Gainesville, Stephen C. O'Connell Center
Spread: 7
Pick: Florida Gators
South Carolina has been just plain bad. Gainesville is nowhere to go to right the ship. UF by 20, 75-55.
USC Trojans vs Washington Huskies in Los Angeles, Galen Center
Spread: 2.5
Pick: USC Trojans
USC has struggled since finding out it lost its shot at the post season because of OJ Mayo. UW is simply terrible on the road though. Lay the points, USC wins 58-50.
Providence Friars vs South Florida Bulls in Providence, Dunkin Donuts Center
Spread: 5
Pick: Providence Friars
Dunkin Donuts center is always good to the Friars and USF is terrible on the road. Lay 'em, Providence wins 85-73.
And my degenerate picks of the day...(My picks in BOLD)
Mississippi State Bulldogs Pick at Alabama Crimson TIde
Syracuse Orangemen -10 vs Marquette Golden Eagles
Northeastern Huskies -3.5 vs VCU Rams
Detroit Titans pick vs Wright State Raiders
UNLV Runnin' Rebels -6 at TCU Horned Frogs
BYU Cougars -3 at San Diego State Aztecs (Sorry SDSU, still love ya)
Western Carolina Catamounts pick at Appalachian State Mountaineers
And my lock of the day...
San Jose State Spartans -3 vs New Mexico State Aggies (that's a rough trip back from Hawai'i)

Cavaliers Bar

A nice win for the Cavs last night over the Lakers.  But, I must admit I think I have been in a 72 hour blackout since I was unaware until last night that Mo Williams was going to be out for a month.  I saw the play where he got hurt versus Toronto, but a whole month.  That hurts.  The good news is he should be back and hopefully healthy, with his legs back in time for the playoffs.  Either way a great win.  Glad to see LeBron step up in the 4th quarter and take over like he did.  Still can't believe all the people who still think Kobe is better than LeBron.  The torch has been passed folks.  Cavs are off now until Saturday versus the up and coming OK City Thunder.  Until then, let us nurse your hangovers at the Clevelander Bar and Grill.

All right day yesterday.  3-2-2 to bring my 2010 total up to 11-6-2.  There are some true degenerate games today, so I am licking my chops.  Let's Get Drunk!!!

My picks in BOLD.

Iona Gaels -3 at Manhattan Jaspers

Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers -2 at Youngstown State Penguins

Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix +5.5 at Cleveland State Vikings (but the Vikings win!!!)

Good day yesterday.  8-4.  Have a few more degenerate picks for today.  Happy gambling!

Favorites are in bold

USC Trojans vs Washington State Cougars in Los Angeles, Galen Center
Spread: 8
Pick: Washington State Cougars
There may not be 8 points scored in this game, but reagrdless it will surely be a battle. The Cougars are pretty good and should match up well versus USC's relentless 'D'. Take the points, USC wins 52-50.
And as for my other picks...My picks in BOLD
Arkansas Razorbacks +1.5 vs Florida Gators
Wofford Terriers -2 at Citadel Bulldogs
Arkansas State Red Wolves -4.5 at FIU Golden Panthers
St. Mary's Gaels -14 vs San Diego Toreros
Pacific Tigers -7 vs Cal State Fullerton Titans
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers +1 at Troy Trojans

Cavs Bar

Cavs got a nice win last night, even though they did not play any defense in the first half.  Shaq scored his 28,000th point.  And LeBron is still a man among boys in the NBA.

Speaking of men among boys, check out Evan Turner of the Ohio State Buckeyes.  Not the beast that LeBron is, but the all around game is similar.  He packs the stat sheet and is the leader of what is going to be a tough Buckeye team.

I am getting back off the wagon for the time being.  On to the college basketball picks.

Favorites are in bold

Dayton Flyers vs George Washington Colonials in Dayton, University Of Dayton Arena
Spread: 10.5
Pick: George Washington Colonials
Can Dayton beat anyone by 10 points? I know they place defense but GW should be able to hang around and keep this game close. Flyers win 60-55.
Pittsburgh Panthers vs Georgetown Hoyas in Pittsburgh, Petersen Events Center
Spread: 1.5
Pick: Pittsburgh Panthers
Pitt has been ballin' since it opened Big East play. Georgetown is a paper tiger that is waiting to get blown down. Pitt wins this one easily 68-60.
Villanova Wildcats vs Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Piscataway, Louis Brown Athletic Center
Spread: 12.5
Pick: Villanova Wildcats
Rutgers used to be at least competitive enough to scare a few people at home at the RAC. No longer. Nova has been a little up and down battling injuries, but they are healthy now. Villa-No-Fun wins 85-57.
Kansas Jayhawks vs Baylor Bears in Lawrence, Allen Fieldhouse
Spread: 14.5
Pick: Baylor Bears
Baylor has been the surprise of the year so far in college basketball. They did just lose a game at Colorado, but this seems like too many in this one. Jayhawks win, but close 85-79.
Marquette Golden Eagles vs Depaul Blue Demons in Rosemont, Allstate Arena
Spread: 13
Pick: Marquette Golden Eagles
Depaul is Rutgers, without the intimidating home arena. Depaul has yet to be competitive in the Big East. Marquette wins easily 85-62.
As for my degenerate picks...
Lasalle Explorers -10 at Penn Quakers
Northeastern Huskies -9 at Towson Tigers
Western Carolina Catamounts +4 at Davidson Wildcats
William & Mary Tribe +6.5 at VCU Rams
Northern Illinois Huskies -3 at Toledo Rockets
Illinois State Redbirds -6 vs Creighton Blue Jays
UNLV Runnin' Rebels -6 at Colorado State Rams
Enjoy and Let's Get Drunk Cleveland!!!
