LeBron is Better than Kobe

I just have one question.  How is Arkansas State getting 9 1/2 points at Western Kentucky?  Maybe not the question you were expecting, but really, does Vegas not watch the Sun Belt?  Does anybody watch the Sun Belt?

Anyway, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a good one tonight.  Make sure to come down and join us at the Clevelander as we will have all the action and all the beverages and burgers you need to celebrate a Cavs victory.  Let's Get Drunk Cleveland!

Really like the games today.  I am going to venture into uncharted waters today and make an NBA pick.  Don't worry, it's a lock.

Favorites are in bold

Cleveland Cavaliers vs Orlando Magic in Cleveland, Quicken Loans Arena
Spread: 6.5
Pick: Cleveland Cavaliers

There is absolutely no way that the Cavs lose tonight. This game has infinitely more meaning for the Cavaliers after last year's early playoff exit. Couple that with the fact the Magic aren't as good as last year, a raucous Q hungry for payback, and the second night of a two game road swing before the break (Orlando rolled the Bulls last night) and you have a recipe for a blowout. LeBron may score 50 tonight. Cavs win tonight 97-83.

California Golden Bears vs Washington Huskies in Berkeley, Haas Pavilion

Spread: 5

Pick: California Golden Bears
Don't let a four game winning streak fool you, those games were all at home. Washington has to head back out onto the road, where they have been atrocious this year, and have to face the only tournament worthy team in the Pac 10. Cal destroys the Huskies tonight, 95-68.
Arizona Wildcats vs Oregon Ducks in Tucson, Mckale Center
Spread: 7.5
Pick: Arizona Wildcats
Sean Miller has the Wildcats buying into his philosophy and Arizona is starting to come together. Oh yeah, and Oregon sucks. Arizona whips the Ducks, 80-62.
Gonzaga Bulldogs vs Saint Mary's Gaels in Spokane, McCarthey Athletic Center
Spread: 6
Pick: Gonzaga Bulldogs
I love Saint Mary's and thought they got jobbed last year when they didn't make the tourney, but Gonzaga is their achilles heel.  I have been fooled by the Gaels before, but until they cover a number versus the Zags, my money goes the other way.
Gonzaga wins 79-70.
Western Kentucky Hilltoppers vs Arkansas State Red Wolves in Bowling Green, E. A. Dibble Arena
Spread: 9.5
Pick: Arkansas State Red Wolves
As I stated above, does Vegas watch these games.  Does that Western Kentucky team name carry that much weight after last year?  Arkansas State may win this game.  WKU 74-72.
I also like...
Seton Hall -4 vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Appalachian State Mountaineers -2 vs Davidson Wildcats
North Texas Mean Green -6.5 at New Orleans Privateers

Ohio State Bar

Just a few quick words about Ohio State's recruiting class.  I know many people may complain or worry about this class.  One word, Relax.  Ohio State has a very young team, not many available scholarships and signed some excellent kids, many of which will have great careers at OSU.  Tressel is going to get killed everywhere for being boring and being unable to win the big recruits, but that is fine.  Here is the quote from the Plain Dealer by #2 overall player in the country Seantrel Henderson's father yesterday regarding Tressel;  "He's so informative and so to the point and so much about business, that it was a little boring."  First off, College and Pro Football is a business, so that should make you realize which coach has your son's best interest at hand rather than their own.  Second, this is the biggest decision of your life and you base your decision on glamour over practicality.  Hey Seantrel, have fun losing to Oregon State next year...again.  Tressel may be branded as boring, but he knows what kind of kids he wants for the program and I am sure he is not losing any sleep over this minor defeat.  I am also sure that USC will be fine and Seantrel will have a great time, but son you better get used to thinking with your head and stop being blinded by the bright lights.  Otherwise the "business' is going to chew you up and spit you out.  Go Bucks.

The D. Wade versus LeBron rivalry renews again tonight.  Come join us in victory celebration at the Clevelander Bar and Grill.  Let's get drunk!

Shaq Daddy and Lebron Show

Another day, another impressive win for the Cavaliers.  Are we watching Groundhog Day?  Whoever generated the NBA schedule must have had a grudge against the Grizzlies when they made it.  Coming off a nice home win versus the Lakers, the Grizzlies were rewarded with a trip to the Q to play the red hot Cavaliers.   Double-doubles were the theme of the night as both LeBron and Shaq had one.  LeBron also made another highlight reel block, whcih if you haven't seen already, you surely will get a healthy dose of it over the next 24 hours.  How LeBron can chase down someone at the 3 point line when he is only at half court and still get the block is amazing.  Cavs get a day of rest  before D. Wade and the Heat come to town.  Until then, join us for some college basketball, beer, and burgers.  Here at the best bar in Cleveland, you got it, the Clevelander Bar and Grill.

There is no way to top yesterday.  8-0 on the day.  Let's just hope I am as hot today.

Favorites are in bold

West Virginia Mountaineers vs Pittsburgh Panthers in Morgantown, West Virginia University Coliseum
Spread: 9
Pick: Pittsburgh Panthers
If West Virginia ever decides to play a full game, we are in trouble. But, watching the Mountaineers this year leads me to believe that they will play for 5 minutes of the game, get the win, but not cover. Take the points in this rivalry game, WVU wins 76-73.
Georgia Bulldogs vs Arkansas Razorbacks in Athens, Stegeman Coliseum
Spread: 4
Pick: Georgia Bulldogs
I usually stay away from betting Georgia because they are inconsistent. Two constants in this game, though are the fact that UGa plays well at home and Arkansas is bad on the road. Lay the points, Georgia wins 80-69.
Georgetown Hoyas vs South Florida Bulls in Washington, Verizon Center - DC
Spread: 12.5
Pick: South Florida Bulls
USF has played pretty well as of late and Georgetown is getting some post-Duke blowout love. Well, this is the Big East and they play real man's basketball here unlike the ACC. Georgetown will win this game, but USF keeps it close. G-town wins 69-63.
And my degenerate picks of the day...
Illinois State Redbirds pick at Indiana State Sycamores
Missouri State Bears +3 at Southern Illinois Salukis
And the MVC showdown...
Northern Iowa Panthers -6.5 vs Wichita State Shockers

#1 Cavs Bar

What can the Cavaliers do tonight to top their performance on Sunday?  Maybe Shaq needs to break a backboard or something.  After the electric performance in Sunday's 46 point 1st quarter, it is going to be tough to top it tonight at the Q versus the Memphis Grizzlies.  Zach Randolph, OSU alum Mike Conley, Jr, and Rudy Gay lead the Grizzlies into dangerous waters in Cleveland tonight as the Cavaliers look to pick up their ninth straight win.  Come on down to the Clevelander Bar and Grill for some burgers, beers, and whatever kind of dipping sauce you desire.  Let's Get Drunk Cleveland and Go Cavs.

Love today in College Basketball.  Here are some picks to entertain your fancy.

Favorites are in bold

Northwestern Wildcats vs Michigan Wolverines in Evanston, Welsh Ryan Arena
Spread: 2
Pick: Northwestern Wildcats
Northwestern is looking to get their first NCAA tourney bid, ever and need a win versus the road weary Wolverines. Plus Michigan sucks. NW wins 68-60.
Kansas State Wildcats vs Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Bob Devaney Center
Spread: 3
Pick: Kansas State Wildcats
Dangerous territory here. I hate picking against Nebraska at home, but I do love K State. I think they recover from a tough loss to Kansas and get a good win today. KSU 65-56.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs Miami Hurricanes in Winston Salem, Winston-salem Entertainment Sports Complex (formerly Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum)
Spread: 7
Pick: Wake Forest Demon Deacons
Miami has been horrible on the road in the ACC. Wake's young team has come along as of late and should win this one easily. WF wins 85-62.
Kentucky Wildcats vs Ole Miss Rebels in Lexington, Rupp Arena
Spread: 10.5
Pick: Ole Miss Rebels
I must say that I have a bias against Kentucky and just don't like their team. Seems I can't pick their games since pre-conference play. UK will squeeze another one out, but close. UK 75-73.
St. Johns Red Storm vs Rutgers Scarlet Knights in Piscataway, Louis Brown Athletic Center
Spread: 3.5
Pick: St. Johns Red Storm
The only team worse than Rutgers, is Notre Dame. How Mike Brey still has a job (in the Charlie Weis era no less) is beyond me. That said after that miraculous win, Rutgers is getting way too much love. St. Johns wins easily 79-68.
Wisconsin Badgers vs Michigan State Spartans in Madison, Kohl Center
Spread: 2.5
Pick: Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin does not lose at home...ever. This one will be down to the wire, but the Badgers pull it out, 68-65.
And my degenerate picks of the day...
Northeastern Huskies -8 at Delaware Blue Hens
Rhode Island Rams -3.5 at LaSalle Explorers
Drake Bulldogs +4 at Bradley Braves
