How bout them Cavs...

The new look Cavs appear to have some gelling to do.  In true Cleveland form, the Cavaliers have started off 0-2.  But not to worry, the Cavs will be fine.  Superstar Coach Mike Brown will surely figure out how to integrate Shaq into the offense without disrupting the flow and energy that the Cavaliers established last year.  The Cavs may take their lumps early but watch out after this team starts to play together because they are going to be tough.  The Cavaliers should get off the schneid tonight versus the Timberwolves in Minnesota.  Come join us for drinks and specials throughout the Cavs game tonight and get prepared for a hungover Halloween.

After my NFL debacle, going 1-3, my record improved to 39-48.  I am simply awful at picking games.  So what to do but pick some more.  Remember, historically picking against me wins you money.

Favorites are in bold

West Virginia Mountaineers vs South Florida Bulls in Tampa, Raymond James Stadium
Spread: 3
Pick: West Virginia Mountaineers
Its never a good idea to pick against USF at home on a weeknight when they are dogs. So I will go ahead and do it anyway. They are too one dimensional and will not be able to keep up with WVU. Mountaineers win 32-24.
Iowa Hawkeyes vs Indiana Hoosiers in Iowa City, Kinnick Stadium
Spread: 17.5
Pick: Indiana Hoosiers
Indiana is not good, but they are also not as bad as their record may indicate. Iowa is on their like 8th string RB and haven't bounced back from big games very well. Iowa will stay unbeaten, but it is too many points. Iowa wins 28-17.
Michigan Wolverines vs Illinois Fighting Illini in Champaign, Memorial Stadium - IL
Spread: 7
Pick: Michigan Wolverines
Illinois is the worst team ever (besides Rice). And they have given up on Zook. Michigan walks in there and destroys the Illini. Give the TD, UM rolls 38-10.
Boston College Eagles vs Central Michigan Chippewas in Chestnut Hill, Alumni Stadium
Spread: 5
Pick: Boston College Eagles
BC has been up and down, but one thing that has been consistent is their defense and CMU has yet to see a D this good all year. BC gets ahead early and holds on late. BC wins 27-21.
Tennessee Volunteers vs South Carolina Gamecocks in Knoxville, Neyland Stadium
Spread: 6
Pick: South Carolina Gamecocks
Never pick against Steve Spurrier teams as a road dog.  The Gamecocks are 4-0 on the road as underdogs this year and are facing a Tennessee team that is coming off a heartbreaking loss at Alabama.  This game will be a defensive slugfest won by a FG.  I think the Gamecocks steal one on the road and win 12-9 in an ugly FG battle.
Texas A&M Aggies vs Iowa State Cyclones in College Station, Kyle Field
Spread: 6
Pick: Texas A&M Aggies
Texas A&M has been queitly improving all year and beat up a decent Texas Tech team last week.  Iowa State has been its usual mediocre self and are coming off a tough road loss at Nebraska.  Now, they have to go back on the road to face a tough, confident Aggies team.  That spells trouble.  TAMU will crush the Cyclones, 42-14.

And for the degenerate game of the week...

Navy Midshipmen vs Temple Owls in Annapolis, Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium
Spread: 6.5
Pick: Navy Midshipmen
Navy won and covered last week without throwing a pass. Temple, while not at its traditional doormat status, will have trouble stopping the run. The Middies have been good all year and will continue this week Navy wins 30-20.

Now let's see how you manage to screw it up.

WOW.  A 5-2 day yesterday.  It is a miracle.  My overall record improves to a pathetic 38-45.  NFL Sunday.  What could go wrong?  Oh yeah, there is a Browns game today.  Instead of going to the game and risking getting the H1N1 from the Browns (or just vomiting from the Browns performance) come hang out with us where $20 gets you all you can drink and all you can eat while you watch the game a safe distance from the stadium.  Let's Get Drunk Cleveland.  On to the picks.

Favorites are in bold

Indianapolis Colts vs St. Louis Rams in Saint Louis, Edward Jones Dome
Spread: 14
Pick: Indianapolis Colts
2 TD favorites on the road no longer scare me in this NFL. The Rams are bad and the Colts are good, therefore this game will be awful. Colts win 42-7.
San Diego Chargers vs Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City, Arrowhead Stadium
Spread: 5.5
Pick: Kansas City Chiefs
The Bolts are very overrated and beatable and KC is getting better. Take the points, this game will be close and I think the Chiefs pull one out at home. KC 21-20.
Dallas Cowboys vs Atlanta Falcons in Arlington, Dallas Cowboys Stadium
Spread: 4.5
Pick: Atlanta Falcons
Something is wrong in this game and I should be taking the Cowboys because this line makes no sense. Instead, I pick the Falcons. Watch me lose. ATL wins 28-25.
New York Giants vs Arizona Cardinals in East Rutherford, Giants Stadium
Spread: 7
Pick: New York Giants
Giants are going to pound someone today after getting embarrassed in the Big Easy. Warner may leave New Jersey with two broken legs and a broken spine. Even with their CB issues, the Giants win and cover 35-24.

Cavs Regular Season Starts Soon.

Tuesday starts the Cavs road to the Championship.  Come join us for opening night with many beers and celebrate a Cavs victory over the Celtics.  Let's Get Drunk Cleveland.

On to the picks.  The way it has been going, the best bet is betting against me.  Thursday's loss brings me to 33-43 on the season.

Favorites are in bold

West Virginia Mountaineers vs UConn Huskies in Morgantown, Mountaineer Field
Spread: 7.5
Pick: UConn Huskies
UConn is still dealing with the tragic death of CB Jaspar Howard, but I think that will bring out the best in the Huskies. The UConn D is tough and will give Mountaineers fits. Take the points, but UConn pulls out an emotional upset and wins 28-21.
Oregon Ducks vs Washington Huskies in Seattle, Husky Stadium - WA
Spread: 10
Pick: Washington Huskies
Even though the Huskies didn't cover last week, I still have faith. The Ducks have QB issues as Jeremiah Masoli may not play. Either way, the Huskies stay in this one and keep it close. Ducks win 35-33.
Penn State Nittany Lions vs Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Michigan Stadium
Spread: 5
Pick: Michigan Wolverines
I think the Nittany Lions are in trouble in the Big House today. This is a test for the Wolverines to see if they truly are any good. Penn State's defense has been impressive, but their offense has struggled and may be in trouble today if they can't put points on the board. Again, take the points, but I like the Wolverines to win, 20-14.
USC Trojans vs Oregon State Beavers in Los Angeles, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum
Spread: 21
Pick: Oregon State Beavers
The Beavers always give the Trojans fits. This isn't your father's USC either. Look for the Beavers to hang in there as they have been playing better as of late. USC will win, but not cover, 35-21.
TCU Horned Frogs vs BYU Cougars in Provo, Lavell Edwards Stadium
Spread: 2.5
Pick: TCU Horned Frogs
I am sorry TCU, I will never bet against you again. Lesson learned. TCU is simply too athletic for BYU and will WORK them today a la last year. TCU wins big in Provo, 42-14.
Michigan State Spartans vs Iowa Hawkeyes in East Lansing, Spartan Stadium - MI
Spread: 1.5
Pick: Iowa Hawkeyes
I am a believer in Iowa. Talk about a curse. Michigan State still has the two QB situation which never wins big games. Iowa has been suspect in a lot of games so far, but I think they pull this one out. Iowa wins in a close hard fought battle, 28-24.

And the degenerate game of the week...

Central Michigan Chippewas vs Bowling Green Falcons in Bowling Green, Doyt Perry Stadium
Spread: 9
Pick: Central Michigan Chippewas
Central Michigan is a good MAC team, BGSU has gone down the toilet after losing to Marshall. Giving points on the road? No problem, the Chippewas win 49-17.

Cavs Bar

Get your parties lined up with us at the Clevelander for what will surely be an exciting Cavs run at the NBA Championship.  The Clevelander Bar and Grill has all you Pre- Post- and In-game needs.  See Pat or Ed to book your party today.

This just seems too easy, so I will most likely get it wrong.  I went 5-5 over the weekend (3-3 CFB and 2-2 NFL) bringing my horrible record to 33-42.  This one should be like taking candy from a baby.  Happy drinking Clevelanders!!!

Favorites are in bold

North Carolina Tar Heels vs Florida State Seminoles in Chapel Hill, Kenan Stadium

O/U: 49

Pick: Under

These two teams have underperformed all year long. Both offenses have struggled to put points on the board and both have turned the ball over. I have no clue who will win this game, but picture Bills v Browns, with less talented players. The final may be 3-0, so take the under and you should come out victorious.

NFL Picks

Can the Browns win two in a row on their march to the Super Bowl.  Oh sorry, I must still be drunk from last night.  A nice 3-3 day in college football.  Gonna try to improve with some NFL picks.  Remember to come down to the bar for all you can eat and drink specials during the Browns game.  We are going to get drunk today because it is gonna get ugly in Pittsburgh.  Let's Go Browns!!!

Favorites are in bold

Jacksonville Jaguars vs St. Louis Rams in Jacksonville, Jacksonville Municipal Stadium
Spread: 9.5
Pick: Jacksonville Jaguars
St. Louis is almost as bad as the Browns. Lay them points. Jaguars win 35-6.
Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa, Raymond James Stadium
Spread: 3
Pick: Carolina Panthers
I like betting against the bad teams. Tampa is bad. Not that Carolina is that much better, but they got a win last week and need to get rolling. Panthers close 24-20.
Seattle Seahawks vs Arizona Cardinals in Seattle, Qwest Field
Spread: 3
Pick: Seattle Seahawks
I love Seattle at home and now that Hasselbeck is back the Seahawks are rolling again as they were early. Seattle is a tough place to win too. Seahawks 38-32.
Atlanta Falcons vs Chicago Bears in Atlanta, Georgia Dome
Spread: 3.5
Pick: Atlanta Falcons
Falcons are tough at home and the Bears are banged up. If the Bears can run they may keep it close, but I think Atlanta will win by a TD. Falcons win 27-20.

Go Cavaliers!

Well, if the swine flu was ever going to devastate the Cavaliers, now is the best time for it.  While obviously swine flu is serious business, getting all the players immunity to the virus before the season is ideal.  The Championship is so close I can taste it.

On to the world of gambling.  28-37.  Ugly.  Let's win some money.  Happy Drinking Cleveland.

Favorites are in bold

Ohio State Buckeyes vs Purdue Boilermakers in West Lafayette, Ross-ade Stadium
Spread: 13.5
Pick: Ohio State Buckeyes
OSU has been covering this year for a change and I like this matchup. Purdue may not get the ball across midfield and Purdue's defense (or lack thereof) should allow Pryor to put up some numbers. This one is a blowout (OK, a Tressel blowout) and the Bucks win 38-7.
TCU Horned Frogs vs Colorado State Rams in Fort Worth, Amon Carter Stadium
Spread: 22.5
Pick: Colorado State Rams
I really don't like picking against my boys. For the last five years TCU has been money. Truly, I can't believe it has taken Vegas this long to figure it out. I just think it is too many points in this game. My beloved Horned Frogs win, but not by enough 35-21.
Boston College Eagles vs North Carolina State Wolfpack in Chestnut Hill, Alumni Stadium
Spread: 2.5
Pick: Boston College Eagles
BC has hurt me a bit this year, but picking against NC State has been great for me. For whatever reason the Wolfpack have been getting all kinds of undue love and I love taking advantage of it. I mean come on they got beat by Duke by 3 TD's...at home. BC wins this one easily 28-13.
Arizona State Sun Devils vs Washington Huskies in Phoenix, Sun Devil Stadium
Spread: 6.5
Pick: Washington Huskies
What do the Huskies have to do to get some love? Arizona State struggled against Washington State and they are still a TD favorite? I know at ASU is no picnic, but come on. Take the points, but I think the Huskies pull this one out late. UW 36-33.
Miami Hurricanes vs UCF Knights in Orlando, Bright House Networks Stadium
Spread: 14
Pick: Miami Hurricanes
I know UCF is gonna be fired up to play this one, but that only gets you through the first quarter maybe. Miami is way too talented on defense and will run away with this one. Give the points, the U wins 48-17.

And now for the denerate games (that's right, there is two this week) of the week...

Northern Illinois Huskies vs Toledo Rockets in Toledo, Glass Bowl
Spread: 6.5
Pick: Northern Illinois Huskies
Northern looks good this year (outside of the inexplicable home loss to Idaho?!?) and should trounce the Rockets. Northern scores some points and plays good enough D to keep the Rockets in check. Lay the points and win some cash. NIU wins, 41-14.
Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns vs Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Bowling Green, Smith Stadium
Spread: 7.5
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns
The Ragin' Cajuns did me in last week with a win but no cover.  This week I have faith though as they march into Bowling Green, Kentucky, and work the Hilltoppers.  WKU is simply not good.  Lay the points and watch ULL win 42-27.

Cavs Bar

As we prepare ourselves for another great Cavs run at the NBA Championship, I will occupy my time making great wagers on college football that are guaranteed to win you money.  Guaranteed only if you bet against me.  I brought the record up last week with a 5-2 CFB Saturday, and then followed it up with a 1-3 NFL Sunday.  Oh well, overall I am 25-34.  On to this weeks picks.

Favorites are in bold

Auburn Tigers vs Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville, Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium
Spread: 1.5
Pick: Auburn Tigers
Arkansas has burned me twice, so this week I am going with Auburn. I still worry a bit about their offense, but the defense has looked solid and I think they should win this one on the road. Auburn wins, 27-17.
Ohio State Buckeyes vs Wisconsin Badgers in Columbus, Ohio Stadium
Spread: 16
Pick: Wisconsin Badgers
Buckeyes will win this game, but Wisconsin always plays well versus the Bucks. Look for a low scoring defensive struggle that the Buckeyes milk away in the 4th quarter. OSU wins 20-6 on a wet track.
North Carolina State Wolfpack vs Duke Blue Devils in Raleigh, Carter Finley Stadium
Spread: 15
Pick: Duke Blue Devils
Here is my weekly ACC pick that I will surely get wrong. It just seems like too many points in this game. Duke is bad, but NC State is not much better. Too many points. Wolfpack wins, 35-27.
Arizona Wildcats vs Washington Huskies in Seattle, Husky Stadium - WA
Spread: 3.5
Pick: Washington Huskies
Washington still getting no love after beating USC and almost taking out ND. Third straight road game for the Wildcats even though they had a bye last week. Too much offense for Arizona in Seattle though. Huskies win this one big, 42-24.
Iowa Hawkeyes vs Michigan Wolverines in Iowa City, Kinnick Stadium
Spread: 8.5
Pick: Michigan Wolverines
Iowa never seems to perform up to their billing in big national games like this one. And this is a big one. National TV on ABC at night. Michigan is angry after having lost a heartbreaker to their rivals and are going to give Iowa fits. Take the points, but I think Michigan comes into Iowa City and upsets the Hawkeyes, 35-32.

And the degenerate pick of the week...
Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns vs North Texas Mean Green in Lafayette, Cajun Field
Spread: 6
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns
Nobody, and I mean nobody, comes in the Ragin Cajuns backyard and gets a win.  While most of the state will be watching the Tigers in Baton Rouge, the true Cajuns will be posting a 'W' on the bayou.  Go Cajuns, 35-17.

Browns Game Specials

Come in, pay $25 for all you can eat and all you can drink (trust me, you will need the drink part) and watch the Browns beat the Bengals.  Okay, so maybe I am already drunk if I think that, but we can dream.  Put in Holcombe!!! Let's Get Drunk!!!

Oh yeah, I went 5-2 yesterday in case anyone still cares.

Favorites are in bold

Chicago Bears vs Detroit Lions in Chicago, Soldier Field Stadium
Spread: 10.5
Pick: Detroit Lions
Bears haven't put anyone away this year and Lions are gaining confidence. Bears are beat up on D and will pull this one out, but it will be close. Bears win 35-31.
New York Giants vs Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City, Arrowhead Stadium
Spread: 9
Pick: New York Giants
Chefs? Chiefs? Who knows. What I do know is they stink. Giants 3rd straight road game worries me a bit, but KC stinks enough it shouldn't be a problem.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns in Cleveland, Cleveland Browns Stadium
Spread: 6.5
Pick: Cincinnati Bengals
How this line is only 6.5 is beyond me. It could be 20 and I probably would still take it. Go Browns. Bengals win 30-10.
New Orleans Saints vs New York Jets in New Orleans, Louisiana Superdome
Spread: 8
Pick: New York Jets
This just seems like too many points for an undefeated team to be getting, rookie QB or not. That D is stout and New Orleans is down to its 3rd string LT to block for Brees. I think the Saints win, but this game should be close. New Orleans wins 21-17.

Cavs Party Room Available!!!

That's right.  It's almost Cavs time (Thank God) and time is running out to book your private party in our beautiful upstairs party room.  Whether its a corporate event, bachelor party, or you just want to pregame with a bunch of your friends before a Cavs game, let us know and we will hook you up.  Talk to Pat or Ed to make a reservation.

On to my horrible picks.  I am on a streak from the underworld and can't seem to get one right.  We'll see if I can get the ship righted this week.  Let's Get Drunk Cleveland.

Favorites are in bold

North Carolina Tar Heels vs Virginia Cavaliers in Chapel Hill, Kenan Stadium
Spread: 13
Pick: North Carolina Tar Heels
UVa is not good. The Heels need a good win to get back on the right track. The Cavaliers are just what the doctor ordered. Look for UNC to put a hurting on Virginia, 35-10.
Stanford Cardinal vs UCLA Bruins in Stanford, Stanford Stadium
Spread: 5
Pick: Stanford Cardinal
I like Stanford a lot this year. UCLA has been ok, but against questionable talent. I like the Cardinal to pull this one out, probably in the last minute, 20-13.
Oklahoma Sooners vs Miami Hurricanes in Miami Gardens, LandShark Stadium (Formerly Dolphin Stadium)
Spread: 7.5
Pick: Miami Hurricanes
I know Miami looked bad last week and OU has been playing better, but the U needs a win like this to really state they are back. I think the inexperienced offensive line of OU is going to have big problems handling the Miami defensive front and are going to get some sacks and turn OU over. Take the points, but the Canes win this one late, 27-25.
Iowa Hawkeyes vs Arkansas State Red Wolves in Iowa City, Kinnick Stadium
Spread: 22
Pick: Arkansas State Red Wolves
Can anyone say let down game? I know it has been a while since Hawkeyes barely escaped versus Northern Iowa, but Arkansas State has been hanging around in games. Look for this game to be close in the first half and hope Ark St hangs on at the end. Iowa wins, 42-24.
Clemson Tigers vs Maryland Terrapins in College Park, Byrd Stadium
Spread: 13
Pick: Clemson Tigers
Like Virginis, I am basically betting that the Terps are going to suck. Clemson has way to much talent for them and should destroy them. Tigers huge, 52-6.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs Washington Huskies in Notre Dame, Notre Dame Stadium
Spread: 13.5
Pick: Washington Huskies
ND is not that good and the Huskies will hang in this game.  ND wins 35-27.

And for the degenerate game of the week...

Toledo Rockets vs Ball State Cardinals in Lafayette, Scheumann Stadium
Spread: 4.5
Pick: Toledo Rockets
Ball State Sucks. The Rockets win easily 52-17.
